Atlus is throwing Persona 5 a livestream party today, filled with gameplay, giveaways, and unexpectedly, another delay announcement.
Persona 5 will now be releasing in America and Europe on April 4, 2017. This adds a little over a month to the last release date of Feb 14. Fans will be able to try out a demo of the game at PlayStation Experience, a Sony convention taking place Dec. 4-5 in Anaheim.
The game has been available in Japan as of September, but the team is hoping the additional time will allow them to bring the Western localization up to par. They’ve been reexamining their English script, increasing the production team and bringing back voice actors to record additional lines.
“I know, I know – the wait has been agonizing,” Atlus said in a statement, “but the Japanese release of Persona 5 smashed all our expectations, and as a company, we decided that we owed our fans the very best effort to make Persona 5 our gold standard in localization.”
Atlus also revealed that Persona 5’s English release will come with free Japanese dual audio DLC, so that players can listen to the original Japanese voice acting along with English subtitles.
