How to Buy the NES Classic Edition

Recommended Videos

Nintendo’s newly released NES Classic Edition is finally available for purchase, granting players the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and experience 30 classic NES titles on a mini digital replica of the old system. Unfortunately, it’s proving a little tricky to get your hands a NES Classic Edition unless you were fast off the mark.

Thanks to the popularity of the system, many of the retailers who were originally stocking the system for the recommended retail price of $59.99 sold out of the system within minutes of orders opening.

The likes of GameStop, BestBuy, Amazon, and most recently Toys “R” Us have all sold out of the system as soon as word gets around that they’re in stock. With retailers running out of stock, if you’re desperate for one of the machines you may want to check out Amazon’s marketplace or the likes of eBay or perhaps Craigslist.

You will have one last chance to pick one up from Amazon directly, however, with the site releasing another batch at 5pm Eastern time today (Nov. 11). These will be limited to one per customer and are likely to sell out quickly, so you’ll have to be fast if you want to snag one.

Of course, with so much demand for the systems, there are a lot of scalpers trying to make a hefty profit on top of the standard price, so expect to pay more than the $60 you expected to. In fact, the systems are currently going for upwards of $200 on eBay.

Therefore, you may want to hang on in the hope Nintendo will manage to get more of the systems out in the future, but for now, you’ll have to pay above the odds if you want that nostalgia trip.
