Goku Black is one seriously twisted character in the Dragon Ball Super universe. He serves as one of the primary antagonists during the Future Trunks Saga and causes terror in the guise of everyone’s favorite hero, Goku. He’s a playable character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 right now if you happened to pre-order or purchased a Day One Edition of the game. Everyone else will have to wait until he’s released to the masses some time in the future. But trust us, it’s worth the wait.

While this additional character is unable to enter his Super Saiyan Rose form or use many of his Zamasu abilities, Goku Black serves as one powerfully balanced fighter with a healthy helping of Ki energy. He lacks a bit in the stamina department, so you’ll have to rely on your reflexes rather than flash steps while in battle, but his Meteor Blow, Aura Slide, and Showckwave abilities help to keep the pressure on your opponents. Plus, there’s the insanely powerful (and very cool looking) Super Black Kamehameha ultimate attack.

His Super Soul is “This pain will make me stronger!” It allows him to up his power and defense after taking a lot of damage, making him an awesome clutch fighter, and definitely one of the best in the game right now.

Broly – Supervillain

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

Broly is already one beast of a character, and he managed to be one of the best fighters in the first game of this series. He’s a lot easier to obtain in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, so I was worried that they toned him down a bit, but what they gave us was a brand new, powered-up form called Supervillain. This evil form changes out a few of the super attacks to provide a faster, higher damage-dealing assault.

What really makes Broly-Supervillain a standout, though, is the maxed out Stamina that he brings to the table. This is a combo machine that can keep up the pressure with endless flashsteps and can get out of trouble with ease. That means opponents will have to keep on their toes if they want to outlast Broly in a hand-to-hand competition. That extra leeway given by the increased resource pool is not to be trifled with, and he has plenty of health to keep him in contention.

Kid Buu

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

Kid Buu may look a little funny, but you probably don’t want to laugh in his face. As you may already know, this is Majin Buu’s final form (known as Pure in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2). Kid Buu is much more compact, but he maintains the strength you would expect, with much more balanced stats than his other forms.

What really makes this character such a nightmare to go against is its ability to move around so nimbly. Out of all the races in the game, the Frieza race is undoubtedly the fastest, making it one of the biggest headaches to face. Kid Buu, though, manages to keep up quite easily and with much more physical power. The Ultimate attacks do take a bit getting used to, as failed timing on Teleporting Vanishing Ball can leave you open to devastation, and Super Vanishing Ball has a slow build up, giving ample time for opponents to flee.

Still, you won’t find many characters in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 that can give Kid Buu a run for his money.

Cell (Perfect)

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

perfect-cell

There is actually a slightly more powerful version of Cell in Dragon Ball Xenoverse known as Cell (Full Power), but Perfect Cell is arguably the better option, especially for newer players. Full Power definitely has some stronger ultimates, but they require more precision and better timing. Also, the increase in stats between the two is very slight, so you’re really just picking a move set that works best for you.

Perfect Cell’s Full Power Energy Blast Volley is much easier to connect, and the Special Beam Cannon does a hilariously high amount of damage while also being very quick to pull off.

Cell is a well balanced character no matter which form you choose, but he excels in the health department. If you can manage your stamina and keep out of harm’s way, you can outlast even the toughest fighters.

Golden Frieza

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

Frieza was a headache to deal with in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 even without ascending to his higher forms. But, when he enters his true most powerful state, Golden, things take a turn for the worse. Golden Freiza outclasses Final Form (Full Power) in every way.

The only major difference is that you’ll no longer have the Death Ball ultimate, which you can do fine without thanks to your increased abilities. Emperor’s Death Beam is plenty powerful enough and easy to set up after a solid combo. Plus, there is no faster character in the game, meaning you’ll have plenty of time to prepare your assault as they chase you around each stage.

SSGSS Goku and SSGSS Vegeta

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

If you’re wondering why these are together, it’s because they make the perfect pair thanks to the way their stats fall. Choosing one or the other really comes down to whether you prefer melee or ranged combat. Outside of that, they’re comparable, and both hold their own quite well.

Goku has a focus on health and stamina, allowing him to keep up the pressure without needing to stop for a breather. Vegeta has a focus on Ki and blast attacks, allowing him to keep distance and forcing opponents to chase him.

What makes the SSGSS form of each character stand out is that their base forms are actually very solid fighters. These forms take Goku and Vegeta and manage to keep their accessibility in tact while upping their power tremendously. It’s a great way to go against the best characters in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 without having to really learn anything new.

Gogeta (Super Saiyan 4)

Gogeta is another of the most powerful characters in the first game that maintains his place in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is a force to be reckoned with. He has all of Goku’s and Vegeta’s strengths – power, speed, energy, stamina – and very few weaknesses, allowing him to play the distant game or keep the pressure on.

His health is what most opponents will find hardest to deal with, though. He’s fast and dangerous at all ranges. Usually that means he’ll have a weakness that can be exploited such as a smaller health pool (common in powerful characters such as Frieza), but that’s not the case here. Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta can take quite a bit of punishment and still keep kicking.

When it comes to abilities, you have some serious finishers. Meteor Crash is for those up close encounters, but Afterimage Strike and Big Bang Kamehameha are what will keep opponents on their toes. And if Big Bang wasn’t enough, his ultimate is x100 Big Bang Kamehameha, just in case a regular stream of energy from your hands wasn’t enough to finish the job.

God of Destruction Beerus

Beerus is the God of Destruction, but that’s not what makes him one of the best characters in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. It’s actually his ability to force a break state on opponents with a single attack. God of Destruction’s Anger is easy to connect, as it’s a rapid laser blast that can be added mid combo to completely drain your opponent’s stamina. This makes them unable to run or defend leaving you to destroy them mercilessly.

Of course, he is also immensely powerful, and can even use Stamina in an attack to greatly weaken his opponents. He’s all about speed and survivability as well, making him a good choice against tougher foes. We must note, though, that he doesn’t have the best defense if he does happen to get hit, leading him to take quite a bit of damage. Still, he makes up for that with everything else, and a skilled player can wreak havoc during a Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 match with this feline menace.

Omega Shenron

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

omega-shenron

Omega Shenron is once again locked behind a wish in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. You’ll have to wish for new playable characters four times before gaining access to this Dragon Ball GT antagonist in the game. Once you do, you’ll remember why he was so great in the first game.

Omega Shenron is ridiculously powerful, though he isn’t as fast as many of the other characters. However, his high defense and proficiency at all ranges help to keep him on top of battles. It makes sense that he would be so powerful, as he came to the world to punish Goku and his friends for abusing the power of the Dragon Balls. It required two Super Saiyan 4s to put him down, and even that was barely enough.

Omega Shenron is best used to overwhelm opponents with sheer brute force, similar to how you would use Broly. By forcing them to waste their stamina, you won’t be able to be stopped.

Super Saiyan 3 Bardock

Strongest Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Characters

super-saiyan-3-bardock

One of the best fighters in Dragon Ball Xenovserse 2 also takes the longest to unlock. Super Saiyan 3 Bardock is obtained by completing the secret ending, which requires you collecting all five of the Time Eggs hidden in the game’s time rifts. Once you do that, you’ll gain access to Bardock and all of his transformations.

You’ll want to save up Ki so you can go Super Saiyan 3 (you don’t start in this form unfortunately), but once you do, there isn’t anyone who can stop you. Not only do you have an insane amount of stamina, but you have high defense, incredible base attack power, and increased speed. Bardock in his normal state can contend with anyone else on this list, but in this form, it’s no contest.
