In the run-up to the launch of the Xbox Play Anywhere service on September 13th, Microsoft has made pre-orders available today on the Windows Store. As part of its new service, several Play Anywhere games are available for Windows 10 PC: ReCore, Gears of War 4, and Forza Horizon 3 can be pre-ordered as of today. ReCore is launching alongside Play Anywhere on the 13th, and is being produced by arcade master Keiji Inafune. Gears of War 4 will follow the exploits of Marcus Fenix’s son as he takes on a brand new threat and release on Oct. 11. And later this month on the 27th, Forza Horizon 3 looks set to deliver on the open-world racing experience of previous Horizon games, whilst moving the action down under.
Xbox Play Anywhere will act as a shared service between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, meaning that games ordered for one format will become available to download for both. This will also share achievements, saved games, and DLC add-ons – meaning you can pick up on Xbox One where you left off on PC, or vice versa. All games published by Microsoft Studios will be part of Xbox Play Anywhere, as well many that are not.
Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, and Scalebound will launch next year, and non-Microsoft published games such as Cuphead and We Happy Few have also been confirmed for the service. First announced at this year’s E3, Play Anywhere uses cloud storage, and so if you do not own an Xbox One when you buy a compatible game, it will be stored there for you to download if you were to buy one.
