Oxide Elements – No Man’s Sky
Oxide Elements are important in No Man’s Sky if you want to stay alive. These come in the form of metals that are used to keep your shields running as well as craft some of the game’s more useful blueprints. Oxide Elements come in many forms with the most common being:
- Iron
- Zinc
- Titanium
Unlike Isotope Elements, there aren’t any pieces of your tech that require a specific Oxide although some do perform better than others. The only time you’ll need a specific one is when crafting.
To find Oxide Elements, activate your area scanner and focus on the yellow and white metal icons. These will lead you to the deposits you need. Iron is primarily found in rocks whether on land or in space. Zinc is odd yellow flowers, and Titanium appears as golden crystals. All three can also be found in containers marked Oxide. Titanium can also be obtained by destroying Sentinels and other Starhips.
You’ll use Oxides to:
- Charge Starship Shields
- Charge your Exosuit’s Hazard Protection
- Craft certain blueprints
- Feed certain animals
- Trade
Titanium works a lot better than Zinc, and both work a lot better than Iron. But, since Iron is the most common and safest to obtain (no fighting robots needed), you’ll probably find yourself with a lot more of that stuff.
