While Pokemon GO is a great way to pass your day exploring the outdoors, it has been reported to be quite heavy on your battery. Don’t worry, though, there’s a way to resolve that slightly.
If you’re finding that the app is eating up a lot of your battery pretty quickly, then you’ll want to activate the app’s power saver mode. Activating this, as its name suggests, reduces the amount of power that the app uses by preventing the app from being constantly connected to the game’s servers, but not interrupting it enough to greatly hinder the experience. It also probably does a bunch of other things behind the scenes to reduce the amount of horsepower required to run it.
To activate this mode, you’ll want to click the Pokeball at the bottom of the screen and then select the Settings option in the top right-hand corner. From here, you should see the Battery Saver option. Simply enable this and let the app do the rest of the work.
Though we haven’t had too many issues with the app draining our battery, power usage can come down to a number of different variables that differ from phone to phone. At least you’ve always got a backup for now, anyway.
