Pokemon GO: Find PokeStops and Gym Locations With Ingress

Use the intel wisely.

Niantic hasn’t released a proper global map for Pokemon GO just yet, so it’s a little hard if you’re planning to take a trip somewhere and want to see where the available PokeStops and Gyms are. Thankfully, there is a temporary solution to that problem. Niantic made a similar game called Ingress, and a lot of location data for Pokemon GO was actually taken straight from the maps in Ingress.

It might not be 100% accurate, but checking the Ingress maps will give you a general idea of which areas are populated with PokeStops and Gyms, and should help you plan out your route.

To check the Ingress maps, simply head to the Intel Map website and log in. You do have to create an Ingress account to access the maps, but this won’t take you long at all. Once you’ve signed up for an account, log in, and you’ll be able to check the global map. You can type in your location in the Search bar at the top right corner to look for your intended destination, and check for populated areas with Portals. These Ingress Portals will likely be recognized as PokeStops and Gyms in Pokemon GO as well.

Until Niantic releases an official global map for Pokemon GO, players will have to make do with the Ingress Intel Maps if they want to look for landmarks in other countries.
