Part of accepting the contract that kicks off the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3 is receiving a home to use during your stay in Toussaint. This home, Corvo Bianco, can be upgraded in order to provide Geralt with certain perks for his adventure. Once Corvo Bianco is obtained, a new Secondary Quest titled “No Place Like Home” will begin.
Head over to the house, it has a signpost so you can fast travel there, and talk to your majordomo Barnabas-Basil. He’ll give you a tour of the property, showing you all of the beautiful scenery while also providing a bit of background history on the vineyard. When he’s all done, however, you’re able to put him to work.
There are perks you can obtain by sleeping/resting at your home. All you have to do is build the corresponding structures. Some of the upgrades don’t require sleep, and are instead things you can actually use.
- Increase Vitality (Bed)
- Increase Combat Experience (Library)
- Increases Roaches’s Stamina (Stable)
- Extra Bombs and Potions (Alchemy Lab)
- Grow Alchemy Plants (Greenhouse)
- Have Friends over (Guest Room)
- Buff Your Weapons and Armor (Armorer’s Table and Grindstone)
- Display Weapons and Armor (Weapon Rack and Armor Stand)
To obtain these upgrades, you simply have to talk to your majordomo and have the coin necessary. To obtain every single upgrade, including those that only make the house prettier (the first of which is necessary) you’ll need around 14,000 Crowns. That’s it. You would think that it would cost a lot more, but apparently Toussaint is not in the business of shafting its patrons.
It’s cool that Blood and Wine has introduced a home for Geralt, and a means to expand it for your adventure. You’ll be able to make further use of Corvo Bianco through certain quests, but we won’t spoil that for you.
