Pickaxe

  • Takes 1 swing to break rocks.
  • Takes 2 swings to break grey rocks.
  • Takes 3 swings to break Copper ore nodes.
  • Takes 4 swings to break Iron ore nodes.

How to Upgrade the Axe in Stardew Valley

  • 10 swings for a tree.
  • 5 swings for a normal stump.

Copper Axe (Axe + 5 copper bars + 2,000 coins to the Blacksmith)

  • 8 swings for a tree.
  • 4 swings for a normal stump.
  • Can now chop down large stumps for hardwood.
