The official website for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst updated today detailing some of the gameplay experiences present in the game. The first section and video focuses on fluidity of movement in the game, stating how your mind, hands and controller work together is key. Faith can take advantage of the environment and move throughout it by using zip lines, balancing on ledges, running horizontally or vertically on walls and swinging on pipes. Momentum plays a factor as speed will help to complete jumps or slides.

Faith can also use a new ability called Shift to gain an instant burst of speed in any direction. Changing course is easier than ever by using a Quickturn for a rapid 180 or 90 degree turn. Take a look at the movement video below.

The new page for Catalyst also gives a short description on a couple hi-tech gadgets Faith can use to help her traverse the city.

Mag Rope – Latches on to specific points in the world, allowing for unique traversal and interaction opportunities.

Disruptor – This upgrade of the tech in Faith’s glove lets you disrupt and destroy KrugerSec and AI systems.

The final section of the page focuses on combat, using the environment and momentum to take down enemies. You can combine light and heavy punches to force enemies off balance or to gain an advantage while they’re stunned. Using the environment in combat will build Focus, as well as maintaining movement and action.

Enemies can’t hit faith when she has Focus active, so losing it means things are much more dangerous. Once Faith focuses completely, she enters into Flow, a state of awareness that allows you to attack in new and more powerful ways. Make sure to take a look at the combat video below.
