An Enhanced Nintendo eShop Is Launching Alongside Miitomo

A fresh new look.

Nintendo, E3 2017

Today, Nintendo announced that Miitomo, it’s first smartphone game, would be coming to the US, Europe and other major countries this week. However, it looks like North American and European Nintendo fans will also be getting an upgraded eShop too.

In a press release today, Nintendo mentioned that in addition to Miitomo and the My Nintendo rewards program, it would also be launching an enhanced Wii U and Nintendo 3DS shop on Nintendo.com on March 31. This will be accessible for any players with a Nintendo Account and can be used to purchase digital games. The enhanced eShop will also feature an expanded catalog of more than 2,000 games which can be accessed from any computer or smart device.

Just like the PlayStation and Xbox One online stores accessible through PC and smart devices, Nintendo’s enhanced eShop will allow users to purchase content on these devices, and have these purchases show on their 3DS or Wii U systems for download. Filters can also be used to help refine searches, and purchases of games from this site will contribute toward the users My Nintendo Gold Points.

These Gold points can be redeemed for rewards such as games, downloadable content, in-app items and eShop discount coupons. In other words, you’ll get more for your money by making purchases directly through Nintendo’s enhanced eShop.
