Foggy Weather
American Truck Simulator doesn’t have too much in the way of weather, other than rain. You also have the different times of day, but the only thing it changes is whether you need your headlights on. While there isn’t a mod that adds a wide variety of weather yet, the Foggy Weather mod adds something extra to the game.
The weather can become slightly foggy in the desert, as well as around some parts of the Pacific coast. There is also a chance of encountering a sandstorm further in-land. Depending on your route, the change of weather might make your journey more interesting.
Real Gas Stations
The gas stations in California and Nevada have their own branding created by the developers. Real Gas Stations is a simple mod that makes the buildings real-world brands.
There are four brands that you will see while driving with this mod installed, which include BP, Chevron, Gulf, and Texaco. It’s a small change, but the added realism in a game all about engrossment will be a slight enhancement for some.
Hollywood Sign
The Los Angeles that SCS Software has created for American Truck Simulator looks brilliant. The only thing is that the iconic Hollywood sign says ‘World of Trucks’, for the eponymous website that is working with the developers.
As you would be able to guess, Hollywood Sign is a mod that changes the World of Trucks sign to the real life version. Step by step, we can make American Truck Simulator real life.
Police Rebalance
If you have previously played Euro Truck Simulator 2, you will know that fines for crashing, speeding, and driving through a red light can make a delivery far from profitable if it happens too many times. It’s also possible that you have been caught out by the speed limit suddenly changing while going through a city.
The Police Rebalance mod makes some small tweaks to the amount of money due for a fine, as well as the chance of them happening. For example, the crashing fine has been reduced from $900 to $800, while the probability for getting a speeding fine has been nearly halved.
Real Brands for Billboards, Citys and some Props
The next mod is in a similar category to Real Gas Station, changing textures to include real-world branding.
Called Real Brands for Billboards, Citys and some Props, although it may be best to refer to it as Real Brands, it changes the branding on the signs that you see around the map. Driving down the interstate you may now see a billboard for Coca-Cola, and while making your way through a city to your delivery destination, you may come across an advertisement for McDonalds.
ATS Truck Addons from ETS2
When you decide to customize your own truck, you may find the accessory options to be fairly bare. This won’t be as much of a problem if you have ATS Truck Addons from ETS2 installed.
The mod has taken all the truck accessories that were available in SCS Software’s Euro Truck Simulator 2, and makes them available in American Truck Simulator. Instead of being able to choose between two bull bars for the front of your truck for example, there are now nine options. The accessories work well with the trucks that are currently in the game, which you can see demonstrated in the video below.

Longer Yellow Lights
Another mod for American Truck Simulator that does something small but effective, Longer Yellow Lights is for the players that aren’t happy with the current duration of the yellow lights in the game.
To be more specific, the lights at intersections in the game stay on yellow for two seconds. This mod lengthens the time they stay yellow to four seconds, giving you a bit more time to get through if you can’t stop the truck in time.
American Freight Companies
American Freight Companies is a mod that adds the branding of popular American companies to some of the trailers that you may have to deliver in American Truck Simulator.
From Coca-Cola to FedEx, from Walmart to UPS, there are seven real life companies included in this mod. There is definitely room for even more American brands to be added in the future. You can see what the current ones look like below.
Sound Fixes Pack
The majority of the mods so far either change some of the textures in the game or make slight changes to a part of the gameplay. As you can guess by the name, Sound Fixes Pack affects the sounds of American Truck Simulator.
The sound of your truck on the asphalt road will change depending on how fast you are going, and while fuelling up at a gas station you will hear a new ding. This mod also works for Euro Truck Simulator 2, although there are some features that only work in American Truck Simulator, like a change to the police siren. You can read through the full feature list on the mod page.
AI Traffic Pack
It is the AI drivers that make American Truck Simulator feel like a living world, they even can be quite annoying to be around. The AI Traffic Pack adds even more to the vehicles that you come across on your adventures.
Fifteen new cars and motorcycles will be found on the road with this mod installed, including the Chrysler 300, Ford Ranger, Honda Civic, and Jeep Wrangler, all of which look realistic. Just make sure that you don’t crash while staring at the Harley Davidson going past.
There are sure to be a wider variety of mods later on into the year, including ones that add new areas to the game. Let us know what you would like to see as a mod for American Truck Simulator, and check back for even more cool mods as they release.
