The developers over at Running With Scissors have been working on a passion project lately that has only just been revealed: a remake of 1997’s Postal. Many of you may remember Postal for the controversy it generated as being one of the most violent video game’s of its time, which seems like mild by today’s game’s standards. Nevertheless, Postal has made its mark on video game history.
Postal Redux plays out just like the original game, polished over with higher resolution graphics, including re-drawn environments and cleaner 3-D models for in-game characters. One of the biggest new additions to the game is Rampage Mode, a mode that allows players to rack up a multiplier for every consecutive kill.
Naturally, with releases on new platforms comes revamps of the game’s general mechanics that are being altered to play out smoother and more comfortable. In spite of its changes, this is still largely Postal, through and through.
In a blog post on the Running With Scissor site, studio founder Vince Desi shared, “Even with all the noise surrounding POSTAL, gamers focused on the experience, playing the game by the millions, giving it great user reviews and helping us not only survive, but flourish. POSTAL Redux is a love letter to our fans.”
Fans of the original game should definitely have something great to look forward, getting a chance to play and see the wild title in a new light, although still just as violent.
You can get your hands on Postal Redux when it releases for Windows, SteamOS, and Mac within the next couple of months. Later in the year, the game will be released for PlayStation 4.
