Far Cry Primal throws some harsh situations at players trying to survive its wild world. As you move further north on the map, you’ll have an extra threat on top of the larger, more dangerous animals you will encounter. The mountain ranges introduce snow and a biting cold to slow you down and possibly kill you.
There are two ways you can deal with this if you don’t want to freeze to death in the land of Oros.
Camp Fires
When exploring northern Oros, you can only survive about five minutes in the cold. You can reset the timer by sitting in front of campfires dotting the landscape or lighting a few fires of your own for a quick fix. It’s a bit of an annoyance to make sure you’re never too far from one, but whatever it takes to stay alive, right?
Winter Clothing
Karoosh is one of the three Wenja Sayla who will send you to recruit early on in Far Cry Primal’s story. He provides the Fighting Skills tree, as well as two new crafting recipes. One of those recipes is the Winter Clothing. When you first craft this set, you can last up to 10 minutes in freezing temperatures. But, purchasing the second upgrade will make you completely impervious to the cold. You’ll need two White Wolf Skins, which aren’t too difficult to obtain, and two Rare Yak Skins which are more common as you move further north. Yaks are tough, but a spear to the head takes them down quickly.
These are your only two avenues of relief when it comes to dealing with Far Cry Primal’s weather, but they’ll get the job done. If you need help with any other aspects of this game’s cruel world, be sure to check out our expanding wiki guide.
