10 Surprising Characters Coming to LEGO Marvel’s Avengers

Every Kurse has its thorns.

xbox one, confirmed, release 2016, games

We’re all used to seeing the likes of Wolverine, Captain America, Spider-Man and the Hulk in LEGO form, but did we ever stop to think about the obscure guys? In the world of Marvel comics, for every Black Widow there’s a M.O.D.O.K, and for every Hawkeye there’s a Squirrel Girl.

In the new LEGO Marvel’s Avengers title, we’ll see the Traveller’s Tales devs stretch their freaky side with plenty of obscure and crazy superhero choices. Here are some of the fun Marvel characters joining the LEGO world:

Fin Fang Foom

Have you ever thought to yourself, “gee, I would really love to play as a giant green dragon in a LEGO game”? Well then you’re in luck, because you totally can in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

Created by the greats Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, this giant green monster has been around since the early 60s. This isn’t his first video game appearance either. He was a boss in the amazing action role-playing game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance in 2005. I suppose he’s back for digital, block-shaped revenge here in 2016.

Devil Dinosaur

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers keeps the colorful, giant reptiles coming, and we can probably all agree that a giant, bright red tyrannosaurus makes for a pretty badass LEGO figure.

In the comics, you would hardly find a time when Devil Dinosaur wasn’t with his ape-like buddy, Moon-boy. In LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, the game even features Moon-boy riding on the dinosaur’s back.

Kurse

Do you remember that big, cranky guy in Thor: Dark World? You know, the huge Dark Elf? Well, you get to control him in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. Finally, a game that lets the player mess up both Loki and Thor’s perfectly styled hair.

In LEGO Avengers, surely Kurse will be able to bring the pain like he does in the movie, and hopefully he gets more screen time inside the game too.

Madame B.

Even hardcore Marvel Comics fans would be hard pressed to figure out who this is. Just as a refresher, Madame B. was in Avengers: Age of Ultron for approximately five seconds.

She’s shown during the flashback/nightmare scene in the movie, she was a supervisor for the Red Room program, and she was also Black Widow’s trainer. It’s safe to assume she could kick your ass.

Butterball

So we have giant green dragons, a red t-rex, a cranky Dark Elf, and a woman who trained Black Widow – naturally we wind up with Butterball.

He’s sometimes known as Boulder, but that name didn’t stick with famous Marvel villain Taskmaster, who renamed him upon meeting the guy. With powerful abilities such as total invulnerability and unlimited stamina, this cook is a tough nut to crack.

Retired Agent Carter

Well this one is the very definition of surprising. In the game Agent Carter’s still nimble, but in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, she’s had better days. Guess old age will do that to you. Nonetheless, this secret agent is a formidable hero, and all versions of this character are certainly appreciated additions to the game.

Beta Ray Bill

He may look like a monster, but Beta Ray Bill is undoubtedly one of the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes. This character is so powerful that he’s deemed worthy to lift and wield Thor’s mighty hammer, Mjolnir. (Don’t worry, he gives it back to Thor and gets his own.)

We’re lucky to have him be a part of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, and he’ll be a blast to team up with as a thunderous rival.

Speed

Speed looks strikingly similar to Quicksilver doesn’t he? Well as you may know, he’s related to him as the son of Scarlet Witch and Vision. Similar to his uncle, Speed can run at supersonic speeds, which grants him enhanced reflexes and durability. If he plays anything like the Flash from the LEGO Batman series, he’s definitely going to be one of the more fun characters in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

Wonder Man

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Mr. Muscles here has to the ability to fly, dons superhuman strength, wields insane speed and agility, and is practically indestructible. If anything is a surprise, it’s the fact the Wonder Man hasn’t been in a video game in quite awhile.

Wendigo

Any monster that goes toe-to-toe with not only Wolverine but also the Hulk is undeniably tough. That monster would be Wendigo.

There isn’t just one specific Wendigo; rather, it’s a curse that strikes people who engage in cannibalism. One Wedigo even infected the Hulk with its curse, causing the Hulk to turn into Wedihulk. Since Wedigo is featured in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, maybe we can finally settle their differences inside the game.
