Monster Hunter X Ended Last Year at the Top of the Japanese Charts

Japan really really likes its Monster Hunter games.

Earlier today 4Gamer.net revealed that Monster Hunter X topped the Japanese sales charts during the last week of 2015 with 130,063 copies sold, beating the second place game Monster Strike, which sold 91, 572 copies.

Splatoon and Super Mario Maker continue to sell well as they took third and fourth place respectively with 60,447 copies sold for Splatoon and 52,753 sold for Super Mario Maker. Meanwhile,  Yo-kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad is still going strong as it sold 49,533 copies, taking fifth place.

The last Japanese sales charts top 10 best selling games were mainly titles for Nintendo consoles as only two non-Nintendo games made it into the top 10. These two titles were Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, which came sixth with 48,222 copies sold, and the PS4 version of Fallout 4 which came ninth with  22,378 copies sold.

Outside of the top 10, the PS4 version of Star Wars Battlefront landed at number 13 with 13,216 copies sold while Call of Duty: Black Ops III took number 14 with 11,150 copies sold. Meanwhile Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS Force just missed out in the top 10 with 20,508 copies sold.

  5. Yo-kai Witch Busters: Red Cat Team/White Dog Squad – Nintendo 3DS – Level-5 – 49, 533
  6. Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition – PS Vita – SCE – 48, 222
  7. Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ – Nintendo 3DS – Nintendo – 26, 513
  8. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer – Nintendo 3DS – Nintendo – 24, 539
  9. Fallout 4 – PS4 – Bethesda Softworks – 22, 378
  10. Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam – Nintendo 3DS – Nintendo – 22,343
