In the world of Destiny, there are no candlelit dinners or boxes of chocolates. The Guardians will celebrate Valentine’s Day with a new two-versus-two deathmatch mode. It’s like a double date but with a lot more grenades.
Bungie has returned from their holiday break with a new Weekly Update. Last year’s Sparrow Racing event ended the year with a brand-new multiplayer mode. February’s major update will be titled Crimson Days, and will change the world of Destiny in a few key ways.
Starting on February 9, the Tower will be redesigned with a red color scheme and plenty of red flowers decorating the social space. The Weekly Update showed a preview of the makeover, and it’s quite romantic.
The Crimson Days event will also add a new multiplayer mode titled Crimson Doubles. Full details on this will be revealed next week, but Bungie promises new gameplay and mechanics for this two-on-two competitive mode. There will also be “sweet” loot. Maybe the candy mechanics from Festival of the Lost will return.
The Crimson Days event is meant to be a similar scale of last year’s Festival of the Lost. However, this week’s update also hints at something more substantial coming to the Destiny world soon.
Very soon, we’ll have more to share about a second, larger game update that will arrive sometime after February. There are more stories about 2016 that remain to be told, and you’ll learn more as soon as I get my own anxious hands on the full and final details.
There’s lots of Destiny coming in the next few months. What are you hoping to see in the game’s future, large update? Let us know in the comments.
