Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that the original GameBoy Pokémon games will be re-released for the 3DS via the Virtual Console. Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will return just as they did in the mid-90s, with the addition of wireless trading.

Now, according to the official Japanese trading card site, the Pokémon Company is re-printing the original 60-card bast set from 1996. The cards will be identical to the originals with a starter pack, classic-style booster packs, and playmats also returning. It may see the selling of original packs for extortionate prices become less popular, but Pokémon fans will once again be able to experience the joy of owning a holographic Charizard.

Unfortunately, there is no word on whether the cards will come to the US as of yet, with the first edition due to release in Japan on 27 February. However, if the re-issues don’t come west, the 2016 release of Pokémon Go will inevitably quell any cravings.

If the original set of cards were to make their way to the US, would you collect them all again? Let us know in the comments.
