Upgrade Them
Being a fan of video games can become an expensive thing. For that reason, many fans stay glued to a certain generation instead of upgrading to the latest hardware. There are tons of gamers out there still rocking out with their Xbox 360s. One of them may be a person close to you who you’re considering buying a gift for.
With the roll-out of backwards compatibility, a growing library, and a strong community, the Xbox One is a perfect gift for that gamer in your life.
Ranging from $300-$500, there are several bundles to choose from, so if in doubt, go with the console to keep their love strong.
You can check out the lineup of bundles at the Microsoft Store.
Windows 10
No, we’re not telling you to update that special someone in your life’s OS on their existing computer (unless that’s what they want for some odd reason). Instead, get them a new PC or laptop that runs Windows 10 since it has tons of new interactivity with the Xbox One. Game streaming, sharing, DVR, and more make the link between a fans console and computer even stronger.
This is actually a perfect gift for that fan who already has both consoles but is in need for a new computer. In a way, you can kill two birds with one stone. Get them a computer capable of everything they need as well as a bit of Xbox power on the side.
Although you can get a Windows 10 laptop for as little as $200 on Amazon, you may want to only consider this gift if you’re willing to pay quite a bit more. It’s a great addition to that special someone’s gaming ecosystem, but for it to be worthwhile you’ll need to get something good.
Xbox Apparel
Give that Xbox fan in your life some gear that allows them to wear their love for all things Xbox right on their sleeve. Clothing that covers everything from the best games on the platform to the recognizable “X” that represents the console.
There are several places you can nab some sweet threads depending on what you’re looking for. Redbubble has a large selection of tees with some fan favorite icons, team logos, and more that Xbox fans will instantly recognize. If you know the favorite franchise of the individual you’re shopping for you can always get official gear from the specific developer. For instance, you can go to the Halo Waypoint site to nab some gear from the flagship Xbox franchise Halo, or hit up the Forza Motorsport store so they can represent their love for one of gaming’s premier racers.
I mean hey, if you were just planning on getting them socks and clothing anyway, why not get them something they can wear with pride?
Support Pack
So your friend/sister/significant other/whoever has the console of their dreams, a beast Windows 10 rig, a stocked Xbox wardrobe and all of the games they could want? Then get them a support pack. This can consist of a cool limited edition controller, a nice headset, Xbox live subscription, and other accessories.
You can find some pretty awesome and limited edition controllers at Gamestop or the Xbox store. If you overheard them complaining about a flimsy headset check out Astro Gaming or Turtle Beach for some amazing sound. Anything that helps to take their gaming to the next level.
Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can be purchased from the Xbox Store or pretty much anywhere else that sells anything Xbox related. You can buy in 3 month or 12 month versions, but it’s the holidays so you might as well give them a year of awesomeness.
Be Elite
The peripheral that is on nearly every Xbox One gamer’s wishlist right now is the Xbox Elite Controller. It’s a sturdier, arguably prettier, customizable version of the standard Xbox One controller. Of course, such quality comes at a price.
The Xbox Elite is $150, that’s $90 more than your standard first party controller, so it’s not exactly cheap. But, if your special someone is serious about their gaming and is looking for something a bit sturdier for those long sessions, then they’ll be eternally grateful to receive one of these bad boys. If you’re looking to get one, though, you should order one ASAP.
The Elite Controller sells out quickly every time it’s stocked, so the sooner you make your purchase, the better.
This Year’s Best Games
2015 has been a great year for gaming, and that greatness has extended its reach to the Xbox One as well. There were a ton of great games released that would make any library even better. If you’re looking for a game to buy someone, there is no shortage of options no matter what genre you’re looking for.
If you want something a bit family friendly there’s Ori and the Blind Forest, Rare Replay, Lego Dimension, Skylanders Superchargers, and Disney Infinity 3.0. They’re safe games for children (though Rare Replay may need some supervision since it has 30 different games,) and amazing gifts.
Your giftee likes something a bit more mature? Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5 Guardians are two amazing Xbox One Exclusives that both released recently. One is the followup to an amazing reboot while the other is the latest entry in one of gaming’s biggest franchises. For third party, you have MGS V, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Destiny, Black Ops III, and Dying Light to offer up some recent, mature action. Deep story lines, insane combat, and beautiful graphics. You can also pick up Batman: Arkham Knight if they have a superhero itch that needs scratching.
The Xbox One exclusive Forza 6 is also a great option for those looking for their speed fix. Lots of cars, lots of tracks, lots of fun.
Toys
Some individuals like to show their love for something by covering every counter they own in toys and statues. What’s special about this particular range of gifts is that there is something for just about every age group. Things that children can put together and play with, and much more detailed figures for collectors to display (or play with as well).
For children, there is a full line of Halo Mega Bloks you can purchase so that they can build and enjoy Halo without all of the insane violence and seriousness. There’s also no shortage of Minecraft toys since those apparently never get old. Some simple figures and foam tools for those who just want to play or elaborate LEGO sets so fans can bring their creativity into the real world and leave it on display.
Looking for something a bit heftier? You can always think more along the lines of collectibles. These may cost a bit more, but are sure to please that Xbox collector you love. Depending on what you’re looking for you can either head straight to the game’s site like with Halo, or you can order online through multiple retailers.
eBay and Amazon will be your best bet at finding something cool, just remember to write the name of the figure/statue you want down in case you want to try and find it a bit cheaper elsewhere. Also, keep in mind that statues will pretty much always cost more than figures, especially if they’re limited edition.
These gift ideas will help you nail down the perfect holiday present for any Xbox fan you may know. Did you already buy them something neat? Feel free to share some of your awesome gifts in the comments below.
