At this point it seems almost quaint that Koji Igarashi’s Kickstarter darling and Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s original funding goal was a scant $500,000. Especially when you consider that Bloodstained has shattered the record of most funded video game of all time on Kickstarter. Only two other projects in Kickstarter’s ‘games’ category has had more success, one of them being Ouya, the other being a card game about cats (seriously). However, as far as video game projects go Bloodstained is unparalleled.
The game’s Kickstarter is closing in on it’s final 6 hours at the time of this writing and is currently sitting pretty at roughly $5,000,000 funding. Every stretch goal for the project has been reached except one final goal: Boss Revenge Mode, unlocked at $5,500,000. Aside from that, Bloodstained has already reached an astounding 28 stretch goals, including ports for Nintendo’s Wii U, and the Playstation Vita, a Classic Mode, two extra playable characters, a prequel mini-game and voice acting by none-other than Solid Snake David Hayter.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is being developed by Koji Igarashi and the team at Inti Creates. It is slated to be released on nearly every current platform in existence (sorry N-Gage fans) with a tenuous release-window of early 2017. Feel free to back the game in its final hours, as we need that Boss Revenge Mode!
