How to Assign Workers in Frostpunk
Frostpunk is the new city-builder game from 11-bit Studios, the same team that brought us the survival game This War of Mine. In this game, players will need to build and manage a city out in the frozen cold. While you’re building new structures or mining resources, you’ll need to assign workers and give them jobs so that you can be more efficient in managing your city.
Assigning workers to different jobs is fairly straightforward in Frostpunk. All you have to do is click on a resource pile or building, then assign them in the menu that pops up on the right side of the screen. Near the bottom of the screen, you’ll see the number of workers and engineers that you have available, and you can click on the arrows to assign them as you see fit. Most resource piles allow you to assign up to 15 workers. The more workers you assign, the more efficiently you’ll be able to mine your resources. Other jobs at buildings like the hunter house and cook house have a lower worker limit.
It’s also worth noting that special facilities can only be run by engineers. For instance, medical posts, infirmaries, and the workshop require engineers. Workers are more for manual labor, and outpost/scout teams will only accept workers, not engineers.
You’ll also need workers to build new buildings for you in Frostpunk, but they don’t have to be manually assigned, as the game will do it for you automatically once they have free time.
