Sea of Thieves: How to Repair Your Ship & Stop Sinking

How to Repair Your Ship & Stop Sinking in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

Since Sea of Thieves is a predominantly online game, you’ll repeatedly come across other pirates who you simply cannot trust. They may attack you, causing damage to your ship, potentially resulting in your ship sinking. Here’s everything you need to know about how to repair and go about fixing your ship so it stops sinking in Sea of Thieves.

The first thing you should do is head to the hull breaches. On the bottom level of your ship, you’ll see some barrels that contain wooden planks. You can then use these planks to cover the holes that are causing the sinking by using X to pick them up and then again to place them over the holes in the hull. Then, you’ll need to use your bucket to clear the water from the ship. You select the bucket by holding LB and cycling to the bucket with the right stick. You’ll then need to use RT when nearby the standing water to scoop it up. Doing so will see you bail out the remaining water, but make sure you’re quick because leaving it too long will see you sink or face irreparable damage. Since you come across other pirates frequently in Sea of Thieves, you might have to do this quite often. If you’re fast enough with repairing your ship, you should be able to avoid sinking to the bottom of the seas, just don’t dilly dally when scooping that water out.

That’s all you need to know about repairing your ship in Sea of Thieves. For more on the game, check out our extensive wiki.
