How Co-op Progression Works in Far Cry 5
Unlike past games in the series, Far Cry 5’s story campaign can be experienced in co-op with another friend from start to finish. This means that you can go running around Hope County with a partner, liberating outposts, hunting animals, and bringing justice to the Seed family as a team. Of course, co-op progression does have its limitations in Far Cry 5, so here’s what you need to know about how it works.
You can create an in-game party from the Far Cry 5’s main menu and invite anyone from your friends list. You’ll then be able to jump back into your save file and conquer the lands together. However, while you will be able to take your partner with you on main story missions, it’s worth noting that the guest player will not carry any story progression back to their own save file. This means that they’ll continue to earn money and perk points while playing with you on your save file, but they’ll have to finish up the story missions in their own time in their own world. Whatever outposts you liberated in your game will also not be carried over to theirs. Thankfully, it should be pretty easy for you to jump into their game and help them out as well.
When in co-op, be careful not to stray too far away from your partner, or they’ll be forced to respawn at your location.
