So the day has finally come Overwatch fans, the new character has been announced. After teasing the announcement for a while now, Blizzard finally revealed Brigitte as the game’s new support Hero. Daughter of Torbjorn’s and Reinhardt’s Squire, Brigitte has featured in a handful of Overwatch comics and in Reinhardt’s short. She is an engineer who loves nothing more than building custom armor and weaponry, having spent much of her childhood in her father’s workshop.
Her skills quickly began to tailor more to armor fabrication and defensive equipment, a contrast to her father who is most notable for his weapons. Brigitte is a support character first and foremost who boosts the armor and health of her teammates. She also displays a lot of techniques which place her in line with a Tank character, making her a hybrid of the two. Brigitte is able to inflict a ton of damage, deploy a shield and lunge forward using a bash attack. She has a one-star difficulty rating, making her accessible to beginners and pros alike.
To provide a little insight into the hero, we’ll take a look at her weapons and special abilities, including her ultimate attack.
Weapon: Rocket Flail

Brigitte’s weapon of choice is a Rocket Flail, a melee weapon which is able to extend out to increase its range and reach enemies to do damage. By using her Whip Shot ability, Brigitte can extend the reach of the Rocket Flail even further, causing huge damage over a larger area.
She is able to swing the Rocket Flail and hit multiple enemies. Fans will recognize the weapon as being similar to Reinhardt’s Rocket Hammer. The Rocket Flail also triggers Brigitte’s passive ability when it strikes an enemy, something which makes her an incredibly useful character to act as a core with which teammates can group around.
Repair Pack

One of the new Hero’s support abilities is the Repair Pack which allows her to heal allies in the field. Should Brigitte heal a teammate that already has full health, they will instead gain some armor.
It’s a targeted heal ability, allowing her to apply repair packs to specific allies. The Repair Pack provides a hefty amount of health and can be used strategically to add armor to those about to take heavy damage.
Whip Shot

As mentioned previously, the Whip Shot ability sends her Rocket Flail out over a much larger range. With this ability, Brigitte can damage and knock back multiple enemies from a distance, further bolstering the effectiveness of the Rocket Flail.
Whip Shot turns a powerful melee weapon into a mid-ranged attack, definitely useful for keeping the enemy at bay. The Whip Shot also extends the radius for triggering Brigitte’s passive ability allowing health to be passed to teammates.
Barrier Shield

Similar to Reinhardt, Brigitte comes equipped with a Barrier Shield. The difference lies in its size though, with hers being much smaller. This means that the shield is primarily for protecting herself, though it can be used to shield an enemy standing directly behind her.
The Barrier Shield allows Brigitte to get up close and personal to lash out with her Rocket Flail, and allows her to deploy her next ability.
Shield Bash

Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, the new support hero can move in close and perform a Shield Bash. This ability sends her flying forward, shield in hand and any enemy she comes into contact with will receive damage and will be stunned.
Used in conjunction with the Shield Barrier, the Shield Bash allows her to quickly move in on and stun a large group of enemies. Particularly useful against characters like Tracer and Genji, disabling them quickly.
Ultimate: Rally

Brigitte’s Ultimate ability is Rally. Triggering the move will allow her to move faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.
The ability is signaled by the blasting of horns, and allows her to get into space and protect a group of teammates at a control point or choke point.
Passive: Inspire

Anytime the latest Overwatch hero hits an enemy with her Rocket Flail or Whip Shot, she produces a large area of healing. Nearby teammates can crowd around her to heal, allowing them to push through an area.
Brigitte is the perfect character to build an attack around, concentrating groups nearby will allow access to her healing abilities as well as the opportunity to help her land more melee attacks, resulting in even more health.
It’s this blend of tank and support skills which make her a unique and useful hero in battle, acting as both a formidable melee warrior and meeting point teammates can use to capture objectives.
