How to Play Gotenks in Dragon Ball FighterZ (Special Moves and More)

Recommended Videos

Gotenks is arguably the most flashy character to appear in Dragon Ball FighterZ. His obnoxious demeanor in the anime makes itself known very well through machine gun punches, high flying spins, and other special moves that, when timed right, can lead to a massive combo numbers. It helps that the character is fun to play too, if only just to witness some spunky remarks when dishing out damage.

The most important thing to keep in mind when playing Gotenks is to relegate special moves to the ground, as the Goten/Trunks fusion hardly has any effective means of fighting an opponent from the air. Most of Gotenks’ special moves, like his twirling kick, are best used once another fighter has been knocked back to a corner. Performing special moves here gives the player the opportunity to launch an enemy into the air, follow up with medium and heavy attacks, then shoot a foe back down to the ground with Gotenks’ level 3 super, a volleyball move that anime fans first witnessed during the Majin Buu saga.

The fusion boy also has a long-range attack at his disposal in Dragon Ball FighterZ, one that has him fire a beam of energy straight from his mouth. Should your opponent be as seasoned in Dragon Ball FighterZ as you are, you can cancel this lazer-breathing attack mid-stop and fake him or her out. This is an important special move to learn for rush down players, as your enemy will be looking to block your incoming attacks by whatever means necessary.

That’s all you need to know about how to play Gotenks in Dragon Ball FighterZ. For even more tips on how to use him more effectively in combat, check out a video by Bandai Namco down below.
