During a recent live talk show event held during the 10th anniversary Etrian Odyssey celebration, series director Shigeo Komori had some interesting words to share about the future of the series.
He was pretty vague, but he did make some pretty interesting points about a new game for Nintendo 3DS that’s apparently coming next for the series in Spring 2018. He let the hints slide that the game will indeed be for the 3DS, it will not be Etrian Odyssey 3 [Untold], and it will be a “true culmination” of the series. He also added that it will have “so much mapping, players will dislike it.” On top of that, it will have “surprising” content.
Interestingly enough, Komori had previously spoken on a new installment for the series that would have a “festival” feel in an interview back in September 2017. He also teased that whatever the new project is will be the last entry in the 3DS series to utilize the bottom screen on the console. Whatever that means is hard to say, but one thing is for sure: We always want to see more Etrian Odyssey on the scene, so bring it on!
