How to Heal and Restore Health in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Getting surrounded by enemies in Super Mario Odyssey can be pretty brutal, especially since getting hit by an enemy will immediately remove one heart point from Mario himself. With that in mind, you’ll probably want to know how to heal and restore health in the game.

Thankfully, Mario can restore health by picking up the red hearts found in the environment. You can usually find them by destroying objects in the area, or jumping and hitting the question mark boxes you find around you. These will restore health by one heart point, but if you can find the special red heart pick-ups with a golden crown over it, Mario will receive three additional temporary heart points which can’t be refilled once they’ve been depleted.

Mario will also be fully healed whenever you discover a Power Moon and pick it up. However, don’t worry too much if you happen to have your health completely depleted. You’ll be sent back to the last checkpoint in the area, and you’ll only lose 10 gold coins in the process, so it’s not too big a deal.
