How to Beat Ripper Roo in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

As you make your way through Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, you’ll come face-to-face with a crazy kangaroo dog thing called Ripper Roo. He’s not a tricky boss to beat, but some may be a little confused on exactly what you need to do to beat him. Here’s what you need to do to beat Ripper Roo in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Your battle with Ripper Roo takes place on a bunch of platforms surrounded by water. Ripper Roo doesn’t have any projectile attacks, but he does bounce between these platforms you’re standing on. If he hits you, it’s bad news, so make sure you stay out of his way. The easiest way to do that is to stay towards the top of the screen. Ripper Roo bounces around these in a pattern, so as long as you don’t stand on the platforms in his pattern, you’re completely safe.

To deal damage, however, you’ll need to venture down towards where he’s bouncing about. You’ll probably have noticed TNT crates floating down between the platforms. What you want to do is step on one of these to set it off. You need to get the timing just right here so that when the countdown reaches zero, Ripper Roo is in close proximity to it. We found success by stepping on it just as Ripper Roo was leaping from the platform right by it. By the time the TNT crate exploded, he’d made it back around to get hit by the explosion. You just need to do this three times and you’ll have successfully beaten Ripper Roo for the first time in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

The second time Ripper Roo pops up is in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. This time, the waterfall area has a solid floor so you don’t have to worry about getting your jumps wrong. Instead, Ripper will bounce around the floor turning tiles into TNT crates. You need to wait until he’s done this a bunch of times and then simply avoid the explosions.

After this, Ripper will bounce around again, but this time he’ll be turning tiles into Nitro crates rather than TNT. He’ll eventually blow himself up and will sit dazed and confused on the floor. Run over and use your spin attack on him. Rinse and repeat this three times and the boss fight will be over.
