Persona 5: How to Romance Sadayo Kawakami

How to Romance Sadayo Kawakami in Persona 5

If you saw that name and thought to yourself “hey, isn’t that the teacher in the yellow sweater?” you’re 100% correct. Sadayo Kawakami, the woman who had very little faith in you when Persona 5 first kicks off is also a romance option in the game, though you’re going to have to put in quite a bit of work and you’ll need some Guts.

After progressing through the game, eventually Mishima will inform you about a secret maid service that fulfills all of your needs. You, him, and Ryuji go to check it out and after ordering a maid you find out that it’s actually your teacher, Sadayo Kawakami. After realizing you’re a student she asks you to keep it quiet. You can then talk to her at school to help her remove the suspicion of another teacher. She’ll thank you and provide her number so you can utilize her services. You can’t actually call her until you increase your Guts though (it takes a lot of nerve to ask a teacher for personal favors).

From that point on you can talk to her to strengthen your bond. Eventually you’ll unlock the ability to have her complete certain tasks so that you can focus your attention elsewhere. It will cost you five grand each time, but it’s definitely worth it. Continue building the relationship until you reach Rank 8. After this she’ll call you to her office in school which unlocks a request titled “A Teacher Maid to Suffer.” You must complete this side mission to continue the relationship.

Completing it unlocks the conversation that leads to Rank 9 as well as the romance option. You’ll actually have to answer three questions with the right answer in order to secure the romance. Talk to her until the following sets of options appear. Make sure to choose the ones denoted as romance:

Set 1

  • “Not really.” (friendship)
  • “I want to keep seeing you.” (romance)

Set 2

  • “Got it.” (friendship)
  • “I mean what I say.” (romance)

Set 3

  • “I’m a master; you’re a maid.” (friendship)
  • “I’m a man; you’re a woman.” (romance)

You have to choose all three romance options or else it just reverts to friendship.
