Zelda Breath of the Wild: How to Fast Travel

Fast Travel – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

One of the newest features in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the ability to fast travel across the land with the simple tap of a button. However, in order to actually unlock the fast travel mechanic you will need to first discover your first Shrine.

This is done through the story, so it’s nearly impossible to miss and you will even be rewarded the paraglider at the end. These Shrines will act as the points on the map that Link can fast travel to in the world of Breath of the Wild. To activate them, simply step onto the platform and bring up your world map. From here you will need to move your cursor across the game’s map and highlight one of the various Shrines you’ve found and press A. You will then be prompted to travel there and once you confirm, Link will teleport to that location with all of his items, weapons, armor, and gear.

Remember, you do not need to actually complete the Shrine to unlock it as a fast travel location in Breath of the Wild; simply locating the Shrine in person will be good enough. However, we do not recommend using the fast travel mechanic a lot, as one of the best aspects of the game is running through the world and discovering its secrets. There is a lot of loot and quests to find, so make sure to search every nook and cranny of the game. Try to only use this teleportation mechanic if you are going to a dungeon, as it will allow you to not waste gear when traversing across the lands of Hyrule. After all, who wants to show up to a new dungeon with three apples, a broken sword, and zero arrows?
