Final Fantasy XV: How to Get Gil (Money) Fast

Final Fantasy XV drops players into a beautiful open world complete with towns, cities, and plenty of dangerous dungeons to explore. In order to make your journey a successful one, you’ll need supplies as well as funds to pay for room and board every now and then. That requires Gil (the Final Fantasy franchise’s currency), and lots of it.

Unlike most games in the franchise, though, Gil doesn’t come pouring from the heavens, and you rarely receive any as rewards for completing story missions. In fact, if you aren’t actively trying to get some, you will often find yourself completely broke, unable to afford even some fishing supplies. However, there are a few ways to help you make a lot of cash to help fund your adventure.

Sell Treasure

You may not realize this, because Final Fantasy XV never really makes a big deal out of it, but you pick up a lot of treasure as you play the game and defeat enemies. Even if you don’t go to the treasure locations marked on your map, chances are that you have a ton of it in your inventory already. Hunts each drop a piece, plenty of common enemies drop them, and you’ll find quite a bit laying around the world as you explore, not even marked on the map as treasure. You can sell all of it.

While each piece has a different value ranging from as low as 50 Gil all the way up to thousands per piece, they all add up. Simply head to any vendor in the game and choose the “Sell” option to offload all of the junk you’ve collected. You’ll earn more Gil than you know what to do with faster than you can say the words “Chocobo Lure.”

Complete Hunts

Restaurants are where you can collect information about an area you’re in, buy some food for a quick stat boost, and take on hunting bounties. These hunts usually tend to be fairly simple (though they grow challenging later in the game), and they offer sizable rewards in the form of EXP and Gil.

To make your life easier, you’ll want to only go for the ones that say “Morning” or “Any Time.” Powerful demons roam the lands at night, and when you first start out in Final Fantasy XV you’ll find that they’re impossible to beat, especially when they’re in groups. That doesn’t mean all the daytime ones are pushovers, so you should still stay on your guard as you hunt.

Not only will you collect treasures from any enemies you kill while seeking out the unlucky monster on your bounty, but you’ll also get a decent amount of Gil and level up when the dust settles.

Side Quests

While story quests don’t offer much in the way of monetary compensation in Final Fantasy XV, side quests are an entirely different game. They range from simple objectives such as finding a set of dog tags to heading to a dangerous area and defending someone. Everyone needs help out in the world, especially after being thrust into a war.

Side Quests appear on your map as yellow questions marks (?). Simply head to their location and interact with the person or item there to get all of the details, then complete the objective and collect your reward. We should note that not all Final Fantasy XV side quests grant Gil as a reward, but you will receive some more often than not, as well as some treasure and experience. A good idea is to continue doing some repeatable side quests, and these are set up like jobs.

These are the best ways to start fattening up your royal bank account. It will take some hard work, but you’ll now be able to afford all the steak and camping equipment you could ever hope for.
