Mafia III: How to Make Money

Killing Thugs

One of the easiest ways to earn cash in Mafia III is to kill your enemies. Like you, they’re gangsters, except they aren’t in it to avenge their murdered kin. They want money and power, just like all of the other people you hate in the game, and they like to carry that money and power on their person. You’ll get a bit of cash with each and every gangster you kill, so you may as well kill every last one you see.

Of course, with this being the easiest way to earn some much needed cash in New Bordeaux you shouldn’t expect to make a whole lot. While this is a means to make enough to keep your weapons topped off with ammo and things of that nature, you won’t become a rich man shooting basic enemies.

 Robbing Rackets

One of the major elements of Mafia III’s gameplay is the act of taking over districts. This is done by taking out Sal’s appointed boss to the area. But before being able to take out that boss, you’re going to have to coax them out by taking out their operations. These operations can be anything from a bar that they own to an actual racket that they’re in charge of running.

Rackets aren’t just marked on your map. You’ll have to interrogate an informant who will spill the beans. That will give you a location which you can head to and clear out, finding plenty of money inside. This is one of the more lucrative endeavors, though it can also sometimes be among the most dangerous. Not every racket is the same and there will be those that have much more protection than others. Also, depending on where the racket is located, you may have to deal with more police or suspicion due to the tension in the city.

In the end, though, it’s a good way to make money in Mafia III, so its well worth the risk.

Recruiting Racket Bosses

Another way that rackets can earn you money in Mafia III is by recruiting their bosses. This requires wire tapping a district to obtain information, with each district requiring a different amount of tapping. Once the threshold is reached you will be given the option to kill the racket’s boss or recruit them.

If you decide to recruit them, you can earn a sizable amount of cash for your endeavors that is rewarded after a set period of time. You can also opt to just kill them for instant cash, though that lump sum will be substantially lower than what you would get for recruiting that gangster instead.

Hideouts

As you progress through Mafia III’s story and unlock more hideouts while taking over more districts, the hideouts themselves will become like businesses. They will become a source of renewable income that you will receive periodically. This money can then be used to improve your weapons, vehicles, buy ammo and other items, and do whatever you need it to do.

This will be earned over time, so while it is guaranteed money after a while, you’ll have to put in the leg work to make it happen. A good idea is to play through a large chunk of the story first before trying to save up large quantities of money in New Bordeaux.
