Founding a Religion – Civilization VI

Recommended Videos

In Civilization VI, you’ll be able to found a religion of your own once you’ve accumulated enough Faith amongst your people, and get a Great Prophet on your side. First off, Faith can be generated pretty easily by building certain structures within your city borders. This includes monuments, leader-specific facilities (the Sphinx for Egypt’s Cleopatra, for instance), and Holy Sites which are unlocked as you continue expanding your development menus.

Once you’ve gathered enough Faith from your people, you’ll be able to activate a Pantheon. Pantheons can be found by clicking the Pantheon menu button, which is located in the top left corner of your screen, next to your Civics and Government menus. After this, you’ll need to get your hands on a Great Prophet, who will be able to actually found a religion for you. You can attract a Great Prophet to your civilization by either building a Holy Site district, or using government policies to bring him into your territory. Whichever method you choose, once you get a Great Prophet on your side, you can use him to start up a new religion.

And that’s it. It takes a little bit of work and time, but founding a religion can be helpful, depending on the type of victory you’re going for in the game.
