Here’s everything you need to know on how to save in No Man’s Sky.
No Man’s sky is one great, big adventure. You’re going to be traversing the entire universe that Hello Games has set up for players. You’ll find planets, species, spaceships, colonies, minerals, all kinds of things.
How to Save in No Man’s Sky
There are three different ways you can save your game in No Man’s Sky:
- Exit Your Ship
- Use a Beacon at a Planetary Structure
- Use a Potable Save Point
Saving By Exiting Your Ship
The first way to save in No Man’s Sky is to simply exit your ship. Every time that you do this, no matter where you are in the universe, you’ll trigger the game to save.
It’s important, then, to make sure all your progress with the game is saved and up to date. While the game will autosave occasionally, you can also manually save.
Using Beacons to Save Your Game in No Man’s Sky
In order to save your progress in No Man’s Sky, you’ll need to find waypoints. These are the game’s term for areas you’ve discovered, and appear on your map and HUD as a white question mark within a green circle.
That is, until you approach and discover them. Each waypoint is a different location, and once you’ve traveled to one, you’ll need to interact with a beacon that’s there.
Beacons come in the form of a sort of antenna, and usually have a flag near them with some cargo boxes. Using them will save your game progress.
Keep in mind you can only have one save file, and loading up a previous save will kill you!
Once you’ve interacted with a beacon and saved your game, you’re all set to turn off the game or keep exploring the vast universe even longer.
Portable Save Points in No Man’s Sky
Finally, you can construct a portable save point and add it to your inventory.
Every time you then need to save, no matter how far away you are from your ship or a beacon, you can simply interact with it to save your progress.
