Gears of War 4 held their panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, and they revealed some cool information for their upcoming game.
Horde 3.0 (the “new” name for it), the popular co-op mode where five players go up against wave after wave of enemies, will definitely be returning for the sequel. While The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson didn’t go into full detail, he did say that you’ll be able to build stuff and move it to wherever you want to. Further, he said that the mode will have a class and skill-based system, but don’t expect something in the vein of OverRun from 2013’s Judgment. It’ll also go back to lasting 50 waves.
The panel also took the time to reveal the full name of the game’s protagonist, JD Fenix, the son of series protagonist Marcus. One fan asked what the “D” stood for in his name, at which point Fergusson was encouraged to say that it stood for Dominic, in honor of Marcus’ best friend from the first three games. After JD’s actor Liam McIntyre demanded that he “wanted the D”, and some additional goading from Laura Bailey (she plays Kait Diaz), Fergusson revealed the character’s full name: James Dominic Fenix. At that point, the crowd went wild.
Gears of War 4 comes to the Xbox One on October 11. Stay tuned to Twinifinite for more news from San Diego Comic-Con.
