This Witcher 3 Blood and Wine Easter Egg Tells the Sad Demise of Leeroy Jenkins

May he forever rest in peace.

Blood and Wine, witcher 3, portal, easter egg

The Witcher 3’s final expansion, Blood and Wine has finally dropped and with it CD Projekt Red has bundled in a ton of new quests, items, abilities, and, of course, easter eggs.

Found on a noticeboard out in the new land of Toussaint, the notice tells the unfortunate demise of Sir Leeroy, who “died during a one man raid against monsters, carried out of his own volition and against everyone else’s better judgement.” For those unaware of the legendary story of Leeroy Jenkins, you may want to check out this YouTube video from 10 years ago. Despite all of the lengthy planning of his teammates, Leeroy went running into a lair of monsters in a World of Warcraft game, only to be struck down swiftly by his foes. You can check out the full notice below.

The notice goes on to state that there will be a funeral ceremony conducted according to Lebioda’s rite that will take place three days later. Just as they did with their ‘arrow in the knee’ comment on the Gwent card back in the base game of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red have gone to extra lengths to throw in these little easter egg nods to other games in the industry. May Sir Leeroy forever rest in peace.
