Far Cry Primal: How to Ride Your Pets

Come here Fido, I need you to take me somewhere.

Riding mammoths in Far Cry Primal is cool, but you have to locate one in order to make it happen, and they aren’t particularly fast or maneuverable. The ability to ride pets makes it possible to summon transportation when you need it, then make it go hunt an enemy on its own.

The Beast Rider skill is learned after first obtaining the Mammoth Rider Skill. Once you do, you’ll need to obtain one of three specific pets (or all three, if you’d like). You need either a Sabertooth Tiger, a Bloodfang Sabertooth, or a Brown Bear.

Once you have one, stand at its side and hold Square on the PS4 and “X” on the Xbox One. If you stand at their head, you’ll only be able to repeatedly pet them, which is extremely adorable but won’t get you anywhere. Sometimes, the ride option will be replaced by heal. If this happens, simply heal your pet and be on your way.

The Sabertooth Tiger and Bloodfang Sabertooth are the fastest pets you can get in the game, by far. And they jump higher than the Brown Bear, so they are definitely your best option for moving around the land of Oros.
