Released last year in May, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was one of the best games of 2015 and has gone on to win many Game of the Year Awards. Given its vast open world, interesting quests, and beautiful graphics, it’s not hard to see why the game has gone down so well.
However, it looks like CD Projekt RED isn’t about to rest on its laurels. In an interview with EuroGamer Italy, via OnlySP, senior writer Jakub Szamalek discussed the game’s upcoming expansion, called Blood and Wine, and said he believes it to be “better than the main game.”
Blood and Wine will conclude Geralt’s story and will be the last Witcher game to feature Geralt as the main character. Szamalek said that the feedback fans have given since the main game was released has allowed the devs to achieve something which he believes surpasses the main game.
One example Szamalek gave was the fact that the main story of The Witcher 3 lacked a charismatic enemy. This has apparently been remedied in Blood and Wine with its complex story.
The Blood and Wine expansion is expected to be released in the first half of 2016.
