Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was a force to be reckoned with when it released to cinemas worldwide last month, and fans of the intergalactic adventure are more excited than ever to continue the journey. This year we’ll see a Star Wars spin-off when Rogue One releases in December, but that’s just a tease. Many people were looking forward to the short half-year wait following that to the May 2017 release of Star Wars Episode VIII. That is, until it was announced today that Episode VIII would be delayed until December 15, 2017.
There was a lot of predictable disappointment.

Others were conflicted.
And by "slow Star Wars releases down" I really mean "I'm already crying"

The only reason I'm okay with Star Wars episode 8 being pushed back 7 whole months is because we get another Guardians of the Galaxy that yr

Some guessed the delay was to spite other filmmakers.
Star Wars Ep 8 and Ready Player One are both dated Dec 15, 2017
Also, Avatar 2 on Dec 25, 2017

Upon hearing that Avatar 2 will now be competing with Star Wars Episode VIII, James Cameron angrily descended back into the Marianas Trench.

Whatever the case, Disney’s cornering the market on 2017.
if you're not-disney in 2017 with a movie, you should be scared. no safe dates. disney animation, pixar, 2(3?) marvel movies, star wars.

Marvel owns summer. Star Wars dominating holidays every year makes complete sense.

This guy’s got his priorities straight, at any rate.
