First up, he stated that he wants to surprise Nintendo fans with brand news ideas, instead of building on the old ideas. Kimishima also said that we can expect “details” on the latest gaming machine from Nintendo, the “NX.” According to a translation, his words when speaking of the NX, he stated that it is “Not the successor of the existing game machine, it is something that is based on an entirely new idea.” There was no mention of the new machine releasing this year.

He also talks about the company expanding to smartphones and theme parks, which we’ve already heard bits and pieces about last year, but that the company will also branch out and offer their character licensing to film and television animation. He states that the first smartphone game will release sometime in March of this year, with other mobile games featuring more famous Nintendo characters to come out by the end of this year.

Kimishima then spoke about how important it is for Nintendo to experiment with new business models, saying that “revenue sources also need to diversify.” His plan is to bring Nintendo company profits to 100 billion yen (approximately $855 million in USD) by the end of this year. That will be four times more than last year’s profits.
