Experience tranquility with Zenyatta and count down to high noon with McCree, because Season 6 of Competitive Play is starting on August 31. Jeff Kaplan breaks it all down with the latest Developer Update, which lines out some of the changes coming to Season 6. If you’ve been waiting for your chance to show everyone what you’ve got, it’s time to start gearing up for the end of the month.
A few of the changes expressed during the video include the fact that seasons will now be two months long instead of three, and Competitive Points will be adjusted as a result of the change to compensate for the shorter season. Control maps will award victors based on the best out of three vs. best of five, and placement matches will result in more accurate ratings for each player’s skill level.
There are quite a few other changes to keep track of, so check out the video for all of the alterations in full in the video below. Season 5 will be ending on August 28 at 5 PM PT, and Season 6 is poised to begin on August 31 at 5 PM PT. Overwatch fans, make sure you mark that date down on your calendars.
