7 Just Cause 3 Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

Look at all the shiny secrets.

Just Cause 3 is a huge game that is very aware of itself. It knows that there are hundreds of square miles for players to explore, so it has some neat things for those who pay close attention to find to make it all worth it. Things like nifty easter eggs that bring a smile to the face of players everywhere (although some will make you reflect on the past).

Like its predecessor, Just Cause 3 has quite a few easter eggs and we’ve already located quite a few. Some pay homage to past games while others exist to make you question why. But no matter what their reason for being is, they all share one thing in common: they are awesome.

Don’t believe us? Check them out for yourself.

Pompeii

This city that was destroyed by one of the world’s most well-known volcanic events is one that many history fans will remember. Pompeii was a lovely city that was buried almost instantly by tons of black ash that spewed from Mt. Vesuvius.

You can find it in Just Cause 3 by heading to the volcano looking island to the northwest of the map. It’s outside of the red border that houses all of the game’s main islands, but don’t worry you can go there. Approach from the south to gain easier access to the ruins, as well as avoid some powerful missile strikes from nearby bases.

Giant Rubber Ducky

Anyone can pull off looking cool in a slick combat jet, a helicopter, or a weaponized sports car. That takes no effort at all. But only a certain caliber of hero can make riding a giant Rubber Ducky look threatening and endearing at the same time (take that James Bond).

If you think you have what it takes, head on over to Val De Mar (southern part of Insula Striate). Locate the lake in the middle of the province and search the coast to find one of these tricked out jet-skis waiting for you to give them a test drive. You can’t go very far (you’re surrounded by mountains), but you can sure do a couple of donuts in that lake. Let nobody take that from you. Nobody.

Just Cause 3 Has a Mile High Club, Too

If you’ve played Just Cause 2, then you are undoubtedly familiar with the coolest nightclub on planet earth. The Mile High Club soared above the city, above all of the nonsense and mayhem. Its one goal was to play phat beats, and poor gallons of booze into glasses. Then Just Cause 3 came along to continue the party.

The problem is that this new game parties too hard and the Mile High Club just couldn’t keep up. Instead, it crashed onto the northern coast of Maestrale (province located towards the southwest of Insula Striate). You can head there and see for yourself. Maybe throw on a song and dance just once more. Or you can head over to the other easter egg that’s right next to it…

Ride a Bull

So you’ve taken a ride on a giant Rubber Ducky but you just don’t think that’s cool enough. No motored beast could satiate your need for excitement either. How about a bull?

Right next to where you found the rusted remains of the Mile High Club stands a bull. It’s just standing there, looking out into the ocean, so give it something to do. Walk up and press Triangle or Y and see how long you can stay on.

Hello, Mr. Snowman

Back in Just Cause 2, you could have met a pleasant little snowman when you headed to the snow covered ski-resort in the mountains. (We use the term “meet” loosely, it’s not like he talks to you. He’s a snowman. Let’s not be ridiculous.) He just stands there happily as you destroy everything around him. He seems to have remembered that little get together because he’s traveled all the way to Medici to see you once again.

Head on over Costa Sud and make your way through the narrow valley on the eastern side of the province. You’ll find Mr. Snowman catching some R&R on a small beach. If you weren’t sure of whether or not he’s the same fellow from the previous game just walk up to him. Rico will remember him and comment on how they’re meeting again.

The Mighty Thor Leaves His Mark

New York City wasn’t enough, Avengers?! Now the fictional country of Medici must pay for your heroics? Thor may be the only person who’s supposed to be able to pick up Mojlnir, but he certainly does drop it a lot. It’s maybe about time that they pass that right onto someone else.

Head on over to the southern border between Montana and Grande Pastura and look for a crater on the latter province’s side. From a great height it will look pretty normal, but drop down into the dirt and you will find Thor’s mighty hammer nestled into the ground. You can’t pick it up, but you are most certainly welcome to try.

Stargate

You know what Just Cause 3 doesn’t have enough of? Teleportation. Sure, you can fly around, glide on a wing-suit, parachute literally anywhere, strap a rocket to a goat, and blow up most of the country, but what about some good ol’ classic teleportation? Apparently, the devs felt that the game needed it too because they hid a neat little Stargate nod in the game.

Head over to the Porto Darsena base on the western island in Just Cause 3 and make your way to the top of the mountain that sits over the base. You’ll find a silo and four buttons sitting near it. Press the buttons in the order 1-4-3-4-2-1 and dive into the silo for a scientific treat.

These are all of the cool easter eggs we’ve found in Just Cause 3 so far. Are there any that you know of that we missed? If so, feel free to share in the comments below.
